Frequently Asked Questions

OUR RUGS

What shape are kG rugs?

kG Modular rugs are available in three shapes: Hexagons, Triangles, and Diamonds. kG Area rugs are available in over-sized geometric rugs (Hexagons and Lozenges), as well as more traditional rectangular rugs. Our product catalog and modular carpet worksheets will help you find the perfect fit for your space.

How are kG rugs made?

All kinder GROUND rugs (modular & area) are hand-tufted in Shanghai from 100% New Zealand wool with a cotton canvas backing. Our Modular carpets have an EcoNet™ (natural tree rubber and jute) backing, creating a non-slip barrier and eliminating the need for rug pads. Each design is hand cut and carved into our high/low signature cut pile, integrating the kG design into the wool itself.

What sizes are kG rugs?

Please see our product catalog for sizing guides.

How thick are kG rugs?

How does kG Modular work?

kinder GROUND Modular carpet fits together to form an infinite number of patterns and carpet configurations. Simply pick your shape, pattern and then place the carpet pieces together on the floor to form your desired configuration (ex: triangles create pyramids, larger hexagons, bow-ties, runners, deconstructed shapes, and more). Please note, you may need to turn the modular carpets clockwise or counterclockwise until you get a perfect ‘fit.' kG carpets are handmade, so while they fit together beautifully, you may need to turn the pieces to achieve the perfect fit.

I would like a Bespoke rug, what's my first step?

Contact our design team at design@kinderground.net or 212-627-2917.

Do I need to purchase a rug pad for my kG carpet?

kG Modular carpets do not need a rug pad. Each carpet is finished with EcoNet™ (a natural rubber and jute material) to create a non-slip barrier, eliminating the need for rug pads!
We recommend rug pads for kG Area rugs. Speak to a member of our design team to learn what might be best for you and your floors. As our area rugs are geometric shapes, you’ll likely need to cut the rug pad to fit the carpet shape.

Are kG rugs safe for children?

Yes! kG rugs are all natural, made with 100% New Zealand wool and colored with non-toxic Swiss dye. kG carpet has been fire tested by an independent testing company and is compliant with the federal standards for fire safety set forth by the US CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission).

Are kG rugs easy to clean?

Yes! kinder GROUND rugs are made from wool, an easy to clean material. However, they live on the floor which means they are prone to shoe traffic dirt. Regular vacuuming and spot cleaning will keep your carpet looking great.

Clean Defense Steps:
-Vacuum to remove general dirt. Regular vacuuming will help maintain your carpet.
-Take your rug outside and shake off any major dirt or dust. Once any loose dirt has been removed, lightly wet and blot any spills or stains with a mild, watered-down detergent.
-Dry your rug immediately with a clean towel and/or a hair dryer (or sun dry for limited time).
-If you have a persistent stain, contact an authorized, professional wool carpet cleaner.

Additional tips:
-Never use any strong, harsh, or chlorine bleach based cleaning products
-Do not over wet the rugs; it may cause discoloration.
-Attend to spills & stains straight away! This will help address the stain as well as ensure there is no further damage.
